CIRCULATION

This module provides function of library items circulation, including loan, return extend and reserve of library items by entering the ID Patron and item barcode.
Circulation rules and regulation are imposed on patron based on their role.
Fine Payment Module displays current total fine of a specified patron. It restricts circulation action for patrons whose total fine exceeds the maximum fine limit and it allows librarians to perform transaction of fine payment.

 PHOTO ALBUM/ PHOTO INDEXING

This module allows librarians to catalog photos innovatively. Librarians are able to create albums for different categories of photo. This module will show the description, number of photos and latest uploaded photos of album. Photo collections are kept in different albums and each photo contains its detailed information.

CATALOGING

This module allows librarians to add, delete and update catalog items details. The catalog item can be divided into different configurable document type, for example book, brochures, reports, etc. Each catalog item is indexed with unique barcode number for fast accessibility. It is also labeled with status ‘AVAILABLE’, ‘BORROW’ and ‘RESERVE’ to show its availability in library. Cataloging format uses MARC21 standard.

MULTIMEDIA OPAC

This module is an improvement of traditional OPAC with additional multimedia divided into different material types. For book items, users are able to see the book cover immediately in search result. Photos are displayed in an online virtual gallery. Users may also access various format audio/video items through media players. To share the material online, librarians may attach the electronic data of related items. Librarians are able to access the information immediately. During indexing, newspaper cutting and journal article will be easily searched and identified by its source. Librarians are also able to catalog and search different languages of library items.

PATRON MANAGEMENT

This module stores patron details such as Patron ID, name, user type, address, telephone number and account expiration date. Users enjoy different privileges based on the circulation rules and regulations. Librarians may keep track of patron through add, delete, update and search functionality provided.

Patron Module performs current activities and transaction history keeps track of all circulation actions that have been performed by a patron. It includes borrow, return, extend, reserve and cancel of book/serial items, date and time of action performed.

 AUDIO/VIDEO/ELECTRONIC RESOURCES CATALOGING

This module manages and stores digital media, animation, film, music, movie, computer files and also websites systematically. It supports a variety of media formats such as MPEG, AVI, MOV, Flash, Real Media, etc. Equipped with feature to attach electronic data, an online audio/video database allows the sharing of digital media on demand.

ACQUISITION

The Acquisition module maintains processes associated with the acquisition of library materials which include multimedia items, serials, online resources besides books and monographic materials. It also involves financial management functions of the library. The Acquisitions module is able to track the purchase of materials through traditional as well as electronic ordering, claiming, receiving, and processing. In addition to standard orders, Acquisitions manages approval items, gifts, standing orders, and subscriptions.

AUTHORITY CONTROL

Allows an authority record for each authorised heading. It permits restrictions on authority record searches by kind of authority record, heading use (name, subject, or series), or heading system/thesaurus. Allows creation of different relations and hierarchies within the thesaurus. Bibliographic records  automatically re-linked to authority records when authorities are merged or changed.

SERIAL MANAGEMENT

This module has similar functions to cataloging module. However, this module allows librarian to keep track of serial item such as magazine, journal and compilation. Librarian can also track the new issues and title changes, mergers and splits of journals. Journal titles can be linked to journal articles in indexing module.

STATISTICS

This module generates dynamic 3D graph for book and circulation statistics. Librarians may visualize vast range of statistics reports by selecting different combination of options. For example, to know book of the month, a statistics can be configured to show circulation rate (borrow, return, extend, reserve) of difference user types on all books in each month. Circulation statistics are further divided to show information from two angles: book centric and patron centric.

INDEXING

This module indexes journal articles, seminar papers and proceedings, newspaper cuttings and digital files to enable detail searching of the content within the library resources. Users can have direct access to full-text right to their desktop.

MARC21 AND Z39.50

V-Lib Professional uses a uniform standard MARC21 as a communication format for data sharing or sharing record with other libraries. The system also provides Z39.50 protocol for electronic sharing of data from a variety of libraries located throughout the world.

INTER LIBRARY LOAN

No libraries can be completely sufficient in meeting the needs of its patron. By using Inter Library Loan, system allows patron to request for an article or book that they came across while conducting an on-line search. They can forward the request directly to the Interlibrary Loan department to request the book from the holding library at anywhere they have requested.
